How cool is that | July 2018

We bring you each month our coolest places to go, food we love and experiences we enjoy. We will also share with you news about inspiring artists, designers and entrepreneurs. Here the list of our 5 July favorites:

Kunsthal LIVE ON SUNDAY| Rotterdam
This summer we enjoyed six groovy Sundays with live music and DJ’s, food, fashion and art at Kunsthal LIVE ON SUNDAY.

There were fashion tours of the exhibition Viktor&Rolf, or you could discover nature in the Museumpark. For those with children, there was a cool Theatre Tour. And the All you can Art artists were waiting in their mobile workshop to bring out the artist in you. Prefer to chill out? You could easily grab a Kunsthal LIVE picnic basket or some other tasty snacks and drinks from the food trucks on site.

Kunsthal LIVE ON SUNDAY is part of the Kunsthal Live program. Under this title the Kunsthal programs cultural events to inspire, educate, entertain and connect. Thanks to the VSBFonds and the BankGiro Loterij this free outdoor festival will also be held in the summers of 2019 and 2020. Save these dates!

Location Museumpark, Rotterdam. On Sundays in July & August, 14:00 – 17:00 hrs and admission is free!

Modefabriek | Amsterdam
Modefabriek, founded in 1996 is ‘More than Mode’. Today, Modefabriek is a mash-up of brand presentations, fashion shows, expos, stores, talks, masterclasses, food & drinks, music – and more.

Each edition offers four districts that are differentiated by lifestyle, image and distribution, which creates a clear and modern overview. We especially loved to find the hottest brands and freshest items of tomorrow, brought by HTNK at their Curated Store. The two-day platform highlighs emerging talent and the newest generation of brands and products. For young professionals there was the program WORK IT! where you had the chance to join workshops, a panel discussion and (RE-)connect with one of the consultants to discuss all the possibilities in the fashion field. We were happy to join the panel discussion ‘Entrepreneurship in a digital world’ on Monday July 9 and meet digital young creatives Nick Botter (Salesforce), Orsi Szentes (Labfresh), Olaf Hussein (Designer), Milan Daniels (Otrium) and Eben Badu (DJ). Fabulously moderated by HTNK’s Mariette Hoitink (Founder & Managing director).

Next edition of Modefabriek: 20-21 Jan 2019, RAI Amsterdam.

INCONCEPTstore | Rotterdam

At the INCONCEPTstore, we take the plastic-free movement seriously by encouraging others to reuse, reduce, recycle; making our world a cleaner, better and healthier place. If needed, one straw at a time.

About 275 million metric tons of plastic waste was generated in 192 coastal countries in 2010, with 4.8 to 1.27 million metric tons entering the ocean, according to a 2015 Science magazine report. According to a report by the World Economic Forum, by the year 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. The fight against single-use plastic is therefore on the rise. Several fast-food chains (KFC, Starbucks, McDonalds) will (have to) abandon all plastic straws in an effort to reduce plastic pollution.

Want to play your part with alternatives to plastic straws? Here are some great alternatives for reusable, non-plastic straws you can buy to support the eco-friendly movement:

Paper straws, biodegradable & 100% compostable.
Lolistraws, edible, marine degradable, seaweed-based material.
Harvest straws, all natural grain stalks, do not pollute our environment.
Bamboo Straws, made from real whole bamboo stalks, washable and reusable.
Glass straws are fun, safe and a tasteful alternative to wasteful plastic straws.
Metal straws are beautiful, kind to both you and the environment.

The bamboo and glass straws are for sale at the INCONCEPTstore.
