Design Letters | Copenhagen

DESIGN LETTERS is a young Danish design company founded in 2009 by Mette Thomsen. After a career with words, first, as a copywriter in the advertising industry and later as a reporter and news editor at an interiors’ magazine in Denmark, Mette decided to unite her passion for words with her passion for design. ”In 2009 there were absolutely no fashionable letters in the interiors’ world. Only noisy, childish letters for wall decoration. Not something I would have in my home,” says Mette. And so she decided to found DESIGN LETTERS by launching a radically different series of one colour letters, later expanding to include Arne Jacobsen’s hand-drawn typography from 1937. Design Letters obtained the exclusive rights to use the typography on a range of designs, including stationery and accessories, such as for ’life-on-the-go’, with lunch boxes and thermo bottles.

The mission of DESIGN LETTERS is to invite people to play with letters and personalize their home and their look in a way never seen before. The company’s products are now represented in more than 2000 design-led shops in 56 countries.

Beyond Fairtrade, with every bottle that’s bought, Lemonaid & Charitea aim to help people and communities to help themselves. Focusing on parts of the world frequently disadvantaged in the global economy, they support local initiatives which work to improve social, economic and ecological structures. This is what we love about the Lemonaid & Charitea Foundation. So far, more than € 2,000,000 has been raised which the organization can put to good use for a variety of social projects in the growing regions.

Each bottle of Lemonaid & Charitea contains only organic ingredients and is Fairtrade certified. Furthermore resisting our throwaway culture, the empty bottles are turned into a variety of items, such as soap dispensers, sugar shakers, and vases.

Noma | Copenhagen

“We want to build the most creative space in the restaurant world,” chef René Redzepi said just before re-opening and it looks like he can live up to expectations. Check out one of the coolest restaurant openings to mark 2018:

Noma 2.0, the new 40-seat restaurant has opened again last February after the original Noma was closed a full year earlier in service of its founder’s next vision. Reservations for the new restaurant sold out in less than 24 hours, and there are over 35,000 people on the waiting list. The new restaurant, described as an urban farm-to-table restaurant, promises a creative and unique gastronomic experience and offers three distinct menus over the course of the year. With the focus exclusively on the season’s bounty: seafood in winter, vegetables in summer, game in fall. Vegetable season is on its way and will offer a vegetarian and a vegan menu, meaning that there will not be any meat or fish on the menu. If you are hoping for that, you can book in one of the other two seasons. Game and forest season, from early fall to January and seafood season from January to late Spring.

PS: Noma offers approx. 10% of their seats for students each night at a special table. Students will be seated together on a shared table and seats can be booked as parties of 1 or 2 (all guests on this table must be students) via These seats will be offered at a special price, including juice or wine pairings.

EVAN Menswear | Rotterdam

Monday, February 5th, it finally happened, the spectacular comeback of designer Evaa Kuik! Her EVAN Menswear fashion show was a great success. Young, daring, controversial as ever, but also colourful and hopeful under the theme of ’The Cry Baby Club’. The idea was to create a new collection not only for men but for the first time also for women. The concept, based on the fascination of the designer for youth cultures, who define their style by outspoken designs in clothes and accessories. At the same time, the collection is an ode to all powerful men and women who have given the designer inspiration during the time of her illness and to fellow sufferers who struggle with the same disease. An impressive label with a strong story-telling.

Evian Fruits & Plants | Évian-les-Bains

Combining natural mineral water from the Alps with a unique pairing of fruit and delicate botanicals is a pretty perfect match! These new Evian flavours come in a beautiful water drop shaped bottle with a concept really focusing on nature fusions. Each of the three flavours mixes one fruit with one plant. The pink bottle is Rose and Grape, yellow is Lemon & Elderflower and red is Raspberry & Verbana. And as much I loved the red bottle and totally on board with every single one of those flavours, I’m a pink lover. Also amazing as a cocktail – gin with lemon, creme de cassis and some of the Evian grape & rose water. Love it! Which flavour is your favourite?

Stedelijk Museum | Amsterdam

As from October last, Keith Haring’s, ’Velum’ will be on display again at the Stedelijk Museum. Ring a bell? The ’Velum’ was made as an addition to his solo exhibition in 1986. For this show, Haring didn’t simply want to present artwork he’d already made – he insisted on making new work. He created this amazing, incredible piece of art of 12 x 20 meters in just one day, using spray paint. Making it his biggest piece in Europe, he turned the event into an energy-fueled performance. While photographers and journalists looked on, he painted rapidly and rhythmically, moving over the canopy, hip-hop playing in the background. Now 30 years later and restored, the enormous piece of art was placed in its original location above the stairs, it is back for everyone to enjoy. I really cannot wait to go see it. What about you? Open from 11 October 2017 to 2 June 2018.

Her first capsule collections were presented at FashionLab, a lab for promising talents and young professionals as part of the MB FashionWeek Amsterdam 2014 and 2015. She received international press coverage, describing her collections as young, daring, impressive, androgynous, controversial, beautiful and stylish. June 2016, Evaa was selected to be the Dutch nominee for the International Woolmark Prize 2016/2017. After diagnosed in 2016 with a rare disease, which she has shared with the world at, she now is back on track. Check out her story as she makes her comeback in 2018 with a spectacular show!
